Ademi & O'Reilly, LLP, Wisconsin's leading class action law firm, announce suit on behalf of Dodge Durango owners.
Milwaukee, July 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) - The law firm of Ademi & O'Reilly, LLP, announced that a nationwide class action lawsuit was filed behalf of owners of Dodge Durangos, model years 1998-2003. A copy of the complaint is available from Ademi & O'Reilly, LLP, or the Milwaukee Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
The action is pending against DaimlerChrysler AG and DaimlerChrysler NorthAmerica Holding Company. The complaint alleges that the upper ball joints on the 1998-2003 Dodge Durangos have an unreasonable propensity to fail suddenly and violently, or to wear prematurely. Further, it is alleged that this is a design defect affecting every Dodge Durango, whether the upper ball joint is currently manifesting problems or not. The suit seeks a mandatory recall to install new upper ball joints, and restitution for the diminished value of the Dodge Durangos.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has commenced an investigation into the safety of the Dodge Durango upper ball joints, after 4 motorists reported that their upper ball joints were defective, and the defect caused them to lose control of the Dodge Durangos. The NHTSA also received 81 complaints that the upper ball joints have worn prematurely, and had to be replaced.

GM VEHICLE BRAKE RECALL
DETROIT, July 21 - General Motors Corporation confirms a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration safety recall of 1.1 million GM vehicles that reportedly have anti-lock brake problems. The recall covers four-wheel-drive small pickups and sport utility vehicles from model years 1991-1996 and includes:
1991-1996 4WD Chevrolet Blazer
1991-1996 4WD GMC Jimmy
1991-1996 4WD Chevrolet S10 Pickup
1991-1996 4WD GMC Sonoma and some Cyclone and Typhoon pickups
NHTSA officials claim that the anti-lock system can cause extended stopping distances when operating in the two-wheel-drive mode.
GM is also conducting a special policy to replace the software that operates the anti-lock braking systems in 2.5 million additional two-wheel-drive sport utilities, pickups and vans, that may cause extended stopping distances on surfaces that alternate back and forth from poor traction situations to good traction situations. GM officials state that the condition occurs rarely, but can result in extended stopping distances.
Vehicles covered under this special policy are:
1993-1996 2WD Chevrolet Blazer
1994-1996 2WD Chevrolet S10 Pickup
1992-1995 2WD Chevrolet Astro Van
1993-1996 2WD GMC Jimmy
1994-1996 2WD GMC Sonoma Pickup
1992-1995 2WD GMC Safari Van
1993-1996 2WD Chevrolet and GMC G-Vans
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified via mail over the next few months and repairs will be done at no charge to the owner. |
